She’s the Australian supermodel who has graced the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue a record five times.
And speaking with Mind Body Green, Elle Macpherson recently revealed the secret to her youthful look comes down to the time she eats breakfast.
The 54-year-old said she has breakfast later in the day, particularly if she eats dinner later in the evening.
This intermittent fasting allows her body and digestion to get a bit of a ‘rest’- an approach with scientifically promising benefits that include more balanced blood sugar, lower inflammation, and increased energy.
‘People say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and I agree, but it’s about what time that breakfast is,’ Elle told the publication.
‘One of the most important things for me is giving my digestion a good rest.
‘I’ll have breakfast a little later in the day, especially if I’ve been eating later in the evening (the night before),’ the mother-of-two added.
Elle said she starts her morning with a glass of hot water and lemon, followed by a ‘little crazy’ green juice. aduqq
The juice consists of celery, kale, lemon, half an apple, broccoli, sprouts, garlic, ginger, turmeric, parsley, cilantro, cucumber and pea sprouts.
Elle also adds in two large spoonfuls of her own superfood powder, WelleCo’s Super Elixir Greens.
Elle aims to drink ‘two to three litres of water’ a day and consumes a diet of vegetables, fish, eggs, nut cheese, tahini, vegetable pasta, and a chocolate shake made from WelleCo’s plant protein powder, water and hemp seeds.
But after welcoming her fifties four years ago, Elle said she is feeling more content than ever.
In an interview with The Herald Sun last September, Elle, who was famously nicknamed ‘The Body’ by Time magazine back in 1989, admitted that she isn’t afraid of getting older.
‘I love being 54. I’m still here and I’m turning 55 and I’m just so grateful,’ Elle explained.
‘I’m strong, I’m fit, I have two amazing sons and I’ve learnt a lot along the way and I’m really grateful that I’m as happy and healthy as I am,’ she added.
